Lion kills woman at African Wildlife SanctuaryA young woman was mauled to death by a lion in South Africa Tuesday after she was reported to be going to her car. The lion reportedly attacked the woman who was close to her vehicle. The victim , a 22 year old who has not yet been identified was visiting a camp at the popular Dinokeng Game Reserve near Pretoria. The lioness was supposedly pursuing an impala (like a deer) and the woman met up on the wrong path with the lion. More research is being done to find out who the woman was. According to Paramedics , the woman was pronounced dead upon arrival to the scene. The owner of the reserve and lion is Kevin Richardson , better referred to as the “lion whisperer”. From the interview , Richardson says that he is “deeply saddened and shocked”. The reserve is now assessing many ways to make the area safer. Some ideas that have come up is not leaving anyone out on their own , arming rangers and sending them out with guests , and stricter safety procedures. Kevin Richardson is known very well and is world renowned for being able to seemingly communicate with lions. The area that the girl was killed in is called “Big 5”. The area that the woman was killed in is also home to other “big 5” animals , including Rhinoceros , Buffalos , Leopards , Lions , and Elephants. The area was assessed before the team went out to find the girl after what had happened to make sure that there were no other big 5 animals around.
